Softening the Radon Issue

Softening the Radon Issue

Radon, as a Realtor you probably cringe when you hear or see that word. I don't care much for it myself. Do you think I enjoy making a second trip to set or pick up the test equipment? Why do you thing the cost is so high? I do however think that as Realtors and Home Inspectors there may be an easier method of explaining radon's significance to our clients. I have changed the way I handle the issue and to my surprise, when I explain it this way, a test is scheduled every time and a high reading seams to become much less of an issue with my client. My method is provided along with resources for educating your client about radon at my new Radon Resources page at http://www.chrisdhilton.com/radon_resources.htm. You don't have to use my home inspection services to make use of this resource and to share it with your clients. Click on the link or copy and paste it into your web browser and check it out, I think you will be pleased with what you find.

There is another way you can help in the effort to lesson the impact of the radon issue on you and your clients. Consider this a LEGISLATIVE ALERT:

LEGISLATIVE ALERT

ATTENTION MEMBERS OF THE REAL ESTATE COMMUNITY!!!

Attached is a PDF file that contains radon tax credit legislation to be introduced by Rep Simmon of Connecticut.

It allows for up to a $1500 tax credit for measurement and mitigation of radon for the homeowner - with the criteria that the mitigation performed meets the specifications of the US EPA.

Rep. Simon needs Congressional co-sponsors and grass roots support. Please contact your local Congressman and request they co-sponsor Senator Simon's bill "To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow a credit against income tax for the purchase and installation of equipment to test for radon and to remove radon from the air and water."

To find your Congressman, click on http://www.house.gov and enter your zipcode

Thought for the week

Our clients will forget what we say,
they will forget what we do,
but they will never forget how we made them feel.
